Title: Odewengie Remains Banned - Siasia
Post by: emezico on Jun 10, 2011, 01:36 AM
Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has given the strongest indication he was not ready to relax his hard line posture on Osaze Odenwengie.

Siasia told reporters after emerging from a meeting with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) Thursday that the West Brom Albion striker must tender an apology before he would be handed a national call up.

Odemwengie was excluded from the Eagles roster drawn from the two fixtures against Argentina and Ethiopia last week after he left the national camp without permission in March just before the friendly against Kenya in Abuja.

In his absence, the Eagles steamrolled over an under par Argentina 4-1 in Abuja, but struggled a few days later to a 2-2 draw against Ethiopia in the rarefied airs of Addis Ababa.

Siasia insisted that Odemwengie would not be welcomed back into cosy warmth of the national fold, except he eats humble pie and apologises to him and his mates.

"As of now, Osaze has neither apologised to me, the players nor the federation. If he apologises, fine, he can be considered for a call up. All that he is doing is merely to be appealing for the sentiment of the public and the media. That will not work. My position has not changed: he (Osaze) has to come back here and tender an apology," Siasia said.
