The All Progressives Congress, APC, has been advised to take valuable lessons from last Saturday's convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which resulted in the emergence of parallel leadership.

An APC chieftain and former National Secretary of the defunct National Republican Convention, NRC, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, gave the advice yesterday in Kano.

He urged the APC leadership to learn from this and other mistakes of the ruling party if it desired to make any significant impact in the 2015 electoral process.

Alhaji said APC could not afford to squander the tremendous goodwill it was receiving from Nigerians, adding that PDP enjoyed a similar goodwill before it threw it away after strengthening its hold on the country.

The founding member of PDP, who defected to the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, urged the APC leadership to at all times allow internal democracy to prevail in the activities of the party particularly those that had to do with the electoral process.

He said: "We must ensure the development of internal democracy, free and fair nomination of candidates through primaries as well as maintain the supremacy of the party."
