Fenerbahce forward, Emmanuel Emenike, has in clear terms stated that Nigeria's target is to reach the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
.
The 26-year-old striker is confident that the African champions will win Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Malawi to secure a place in the playoff.
.
Emenike, who joined Fenerbahce from Spartak Moscow in August for a fee of €13 million, stated that featuring at next year's Mundial is "important" for his country.
.
However, the former FC Cape Town man said "it will be a disaster" should the African champions fail to make the cut.
.
And he has charged his teammates to go all out against the Flames of Malawi to ensure they reach the playoff stage and avoid any embarrassment to their World Cup ambition.
.
"I think it's not just about me, the whole team is prepared. We left our clubs to win this game as we know how important it is for Nigeria to be at the World Cup next year.
.
"As African champions, it will be a disaster not to make it to the World Cup next year. We don't want to think about that but first focus on the match against Malawi which is important to our World Cup ambition," said Emenike.
.
Nigeria's Super Eagles just need a draw to book their passage to the playoff of the 2014 Fifa World Cup for the African zone.
He played fantastically well for the Super Eagles of Nigeria today. The goal he scored was massive!
