Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has revealed the motivation behind the 2-0 victory against the Flames of Malawi in Saturday's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the UJ Esuene Stadium.

The Lille of France goalkeeper who spoke to Complete Sports shortly after the match said the African champions knew that the visitors' threat that preceded the match could come to reality, hence the decision to go all out for victory in the match.

According to the former Enyimba FC of Aba shot- stopper, the players had agreed before the match that they needed to look beyond a draw which could have as well seen the team through to the final round of the qualifier.

"First, we have to thank God that the match has come and gone which is the most important thing to us as players and to Nigerians. We knew that we are in the crucial stage of the qualifier and any attempt to lose any match may be dangerous. But like I said, we thank God for the victory ", says the former Israel based goalkeeper.

"We had to go for a victory in the match even when we knew that a draw would be enough but going by the threat that preceded that match; we just agreed that we needed to go all out and win the match."

Enyeama who is now looking forward to the final round of qualifier for the 2014 FIFA World Cup said Nigerians should have confidence in the team, saying they will do their best to ensure that the Super Eagles are part of the party to Brazil.
