Description:

•   This position will form a crucial part of Thomson Reuters ongoing growth in Commodities and Energy desktop space focusing on increasing our penetration across the region.

•   Combining superior C&E market knowledge and insight, with demonstrable sales experience gained either working for a commodities producer, trading firm or a data vendor operating in this space, the successful candidate will be positioning Thomson Reuters Eikon and related propositions to a sophisticated and diverse user base.

•   As well as providing workflow related expertise on all matters relating to desktop sales in this segment, this role is required to support in defining and delivering the C&E sales strategy.

•   An experienced sales professional with intimate knowledge of the workflow of commodities professionals, the successful candidate will likely have first-hand experience of working in or selling to traders, corporations or financial institutions either gained within or outside the Sub Saharan African region.

Purpose of the Role:

•   To drive and lead sales, including development and execution of displacement programs at new or existing accounts within Commodities and Energy Markets.

•   Take lead role on desktop initiatives in C&E space for your designated territories.

•   To build relationships and communities with end-users by understanding and fulfilling their business needs

Essential Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Major emphasis on opening up new business, both within existing accounts and new customers.

• Delivers recurring and outright revenue, generates new opportunities, follows and develops opportunities and leads provided by other sources.

• Prevents cancellations by positioning product features against competitors.

• Grow market share by proactively developing and deploying domain-based sales strategies in collaboration with account management and utilising specialist knowledge to deliver gross sales.

• Be the voice of the customer, feeding into SBU to inform business strategy.

• Be first point of contact and subject matter expert to support desktop sales within the regional C&E space.

• Work closely with account management team and SBU to identify specific sales opportunities.

• Build relationships with Heads of Departments and users alike. Qualifications:

Required skills:

• Deep C&E Market Understanding including a) Understanding of financial markets b) knowledge of relevant market c) strong understanding of customers' business models

• Selling Skills (identify, develop, & articulate proposition/ consultative selling)

• Significant Product and Workflow Expertise (e.g. knowledge of financial modelling, excel, MS Office); knowledge of trading floor tech./ data apps

• Strong customer service and relationship building kills

• Other: Presentation skills (verbal & written); Strong interpersonal skills; ability to organize and execute a sales plan; ability to use MIS systems

Desired skills: Thomson Reuters product experience. Deep specialisation in one or more commodity / Energy market.French and/or Portuguese speaking. Experience of selling / working in Sub Sahara Africa region.
