Nigeria and Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi is happy that he has broken his goal scoring duck for the Super Eagles and hopes that the goals will start to roll in.

The tall striker opened his Nigeria account in the 4-1 demolition of Burkina Faso in an international friendly on Tuesday in only his third cap and is now hoping it will be the beginning of more goals for Nigeria

"Obviously I'm delighted to have scored my first goal for Nigeria. It's feels great that it finally came.

"You'll agree with me that it's being a long journey for me to get here and this goal shows I've made the right decision. It's not been easy, but I'm glad it's al working out for good." he told supersport.com in Kaduna.

Ameobi scored Nigeria's third goal with a crisp finish after some beautiful interchange of play between Obinna Nsofor and Brown Ideye, something that has impressed the Kogi-born player.
The goal he scored was superb and we all hope ot continues like that. He is a great player so we expect more great play from him!
