UNFPA Nigeria seeks a Logistics Assistant to support the national supply chain management and ensure the attainment of reproductive health commodity security (RHCS). The post is located in Lagos Liaison Office.

The Logistics Assistant post provides clearing and storage and distribution support to UNFPA procured contraceptives and maternal life-saving medicines, equipment and supplies for effective implementation of the country programme.

Responsibilities of the Logistics Assistant include: timely clearing, storage and distribution of RH commodities and reporting. S/he ensures that clearance of goods received does not carry any demurrages.

Main Tasks

Under the overall guidance of the Resident Representative, the oversight of the Deputy Representative and the International Operations Manager, and the direct supervision of the Liaison Office Head, the main tasks of the Logistics Assistant will be, but not limited to the following:

Port Clearance:

• Follow up and collection of "Form M" exemptions prepared by Field Office Admin and Procurement Staff.

• Follow up with the Admin/Protocol Clerk for FMoFA waivers

• Collection of shipping company debit note from shipping company in collaboration with clearing agents.

• Collection of terminal charges from Nigeria Port Authority or third party container terminal operators in collaboration with shipping company/clearing agents.

• Review shipping company and terminal charges and recommend to field office for payment.

• Obtaining receipt for shipping and terminal charges in collaboration with clearing agents.

• Supervises the loading of the container and monitor container until delivery to agreed location.

• Ensure timely return of containers to shipping company.

• Obtain container deposit from shipping company and remit to field office

Commodity Logistics:

• Documentation of delivery of commodities to Implementing Partners using UNFPA recommended formats

• Support to CCW staff in monthly physical stock count and documentation in stock cards and ledgers

• Support to CCW staff in stock counts and packaging for distribution to States and NGOs

• Provision of regular status reports on stocks and storage conditions in CCW and Shed 36

• Any other duties that may be appointed by Supervisor from time to time.

Capacity Building and Reporting:

• Provide technical and capacity building support to CCW and Shed 36 staff using the e-LMIS (CHANNEL software) for inventory, control and management of health commodities

• Provide regular reports on inventory and logistics management.

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by UNFPA Resident Representative, Deputy Representative, IOM or Liaison Office Head.

Qualifications and Experience

The Ideal Candidate should:

• Be a Nigerian national (Male or Female).

• Possess University degree in B.sc/HND in Social /Management Sciences,

• Possess a minimum of 7 years of related work experience preferably in a national or international organization. At Least 3 years working experience in Nigeria Port clearance

• Have an excellent organizational and time management skills

• Have the ability to perform well under pressure and flexibility in handling unexpected work assignments as and when necessary

• Possess good writing and communication skills.

• Have good working knowledge of MS Office applications
