Globacom,the major sponsor of the Nigerian national teams, has congratulated the Super Eagles on the 4-1 defeat handed the Stallions of Burkina Faso in their friendly match in Kaduna on Tuesday.

Nigeria proved too hot for the fellow West African nation as Brown Ideye, Shola Ameobi and Emmanuel Emenike netted four goals before the Burkinabes scored a consolation goal towards the end of the match.

"The latest Super Eagles' exploits will raise Nigeria's position in the new FIFA ranking expected on Thursday, as well as boost the team's confidence as they prepare for the final round of the World Cup 2014 qualifiers scheduled for October and November," Globacom said in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday.

"We are pleased that the Eagles and their coaching crew gave the match total concentration by outplaying the Burkinabes and we believe the success, coming three days after Nigeria beat Malawi to secure qualification for the final round of the World Cup qualifiers, has further demonstrated that we are the true African champions," the statement added.

According to Globacom, a greater challenge lay ahead for Nigeria as the Eagles fly toward Brazil for next year's mundial.
