The Yarramundi Higher Degree Research Scholarship scheme aims to strengthen and support Indigenous participation in higher degree research at UWS. UWS has awarded 8 Yarramundi scholarships since their inception in 2007.
The University has doubled the number of Indigenous research students since 2007 with students doing research across diverse areas of interest, including: management cultures, natural sciences, education and Aboriginal arts, history and astronomy.
Applications are now invited for Yarramundi Higher Degree Scholarships for candidates to be admitted to Masters Honours or Doctoral research degrees.
Criteria:
The allocation of scholarships is a competitive process and applicants will initially be ranked according to academic merit using the UWS Higher Degree Research Scholarship Ranking Metric endorsed by the UWS Research Studies Committee.
Other key criteria for assessment will be:
• Quality of the research proposal
• Benefit of the proposed research to the discipline
• The applicant's research expertise and writing skills
• The applicant's approach to ethical issues
• The proposed supervisor's track record in higher degree supervision
• The applicant's academic history and background
All applicants must provide evidence of their Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
What does the scholarship provide?
• Tax free stipend of $32,860 per annum and a funded place in the relevant degree
• Funding is also available for project costs
