Presiding Minister of Assemblies of God Church, FESTAC (II), Lagos, Rev. Izuchukwu Chukwudebelu, x-rays the reality of curses and how they affect our conducts toward others. "One reaps whatever he or she sows," he warns. Excerpts:
As long as the earth remaineth seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night not cease. Gen. 8:22 Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatever a man soweth that equally shall he reap. Gal.6:7.
This curse is also called Seedtime and Harvest.' In divine order, none reaps what you plant. It is your exclusive reserve to harvest every seed sown by you. This is an agricultural law that has a spiritual bearing. None flees from it. As a matter of fact, spiritually speaking, your seed or plant has wings to fly and locate your destination, distance notwithstanding.
Within the few years I have been around in God's vineyard, I have seen many harvests by their planters. And He began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And He spake that saying openly, And Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him. Mk. 11:31-32.
But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed ... I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? Gal. 2:11-14.
Apostle Peter overheard Jesus talking about His destiny, how He was to die; He took Jesus and began to rebuke Him, conscious of the fact that one ought not to rebuke an elder.
The seed he planted grew and matured for a harvest. When he, Peter travelled to Galatia and was found eating with the Gentiles, on sighting the Jews, quickly washed his hands and feigned to have never eaten, Paul fired him a serious rebuke.
He had no voice to defend himself though he was the chief apostle. The seed he planted even when Paul had not manifested silenced him. Peter must have scolded Jesus in ignorance. In-spite-of this, in Peter's own time too, Paul rebuked him for his hypocritical attitude.
Your time will always come for a harvest you once planted, be it calculatedly or inadvertently. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight ... For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Acts 9:11-16. Apostle Paul when he was Saul went about biting Christians like a rabies dog. He personally dealt with gospellers and even supervised the killing of Steven. He put many into untold hardship and suffering. Nevertheless on his way to Damascus, the Lord spoke clearly and personally to him.
The Lord unequivocally told him that he was going to suffer many things for Him. That was the same suffering he subjected his predecessors to. Friend, no one escapes the curse of sowing and reaping even when it fingers. Jacob deceived his father by taking advantage of his dim eyes and collected the blessing meant for Esau, his doppelganger brother: Jacob supplanted Esau, his elder brother, tricking him out of his birthright. He in turn suffered in the hands of Laban, his father-inlaw. Laban changed his wages ten times.
His children tricked him also. When Jacob later had 12 children, the first 10 of them ganged up against the eleventh and sold him into slavery. They returned with his animal blood stained garment to give their father the harvest of deceit he planted before his own father.
They actually succeeded as he equally did to his father. I have learnt over the years that the arrow of seedtime and harvest never misses its target. Friend, I want you to understand that if you do well, you will indeed reap good. However, if you plant seeds that are bad and rotten you definitely will reap such a harvest. I had a teacher in my elementary school days whose name was 'Mr. Do Good.' He was a torn in every pupil's flesh.
When one called him 'Do Good' his response used to be 'You do for yourself.' Some senior pupils used to call him 'Mr. Do Bad', his response also was 'you do for yourself.' None ever failed his test and smiled. There is an adage that said, 'the evil that men do lives with (and not after) them. Read what the scriptures further said about harvest: With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. Eph.6:7-8. Many are wriggling and suffering under this curse today.
Things will not just work, because of what seeds they have sown! Every act is a seed: harvest must come sooner or later. Off-putting acts are bound to bring home downbeat harvest, while constructive acts guarantee upbeat harvest. Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war ... Then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also. So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for ... And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband, And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son.
But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord. 2Sam. 11:18-27. David sent Uriah to the war front to be killed so as to easily take his wife Bathsheba. Later on, Absalom his son chased him (David) off his throne and slept with his wives. The seed will always be there waiting for the planter to come and harvest. Funny enough, David slept with just a woman but Absalom went in to all his concubines {about ten}. So he got hundred fold of his seed. Only a gullible individual toys with this type of information. Curses are so real both in scriptures and our days.
Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, "Give counsel among you, what we shall do." And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, "Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel. 2 Sam. 16:22. Ahithophel, David's adviser, decamped and joined Absalom in his rebellion. He joined in the conspiracy to dethrone and kill his master, David. But who died? You should know the answer by now.
Read further: And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father. 1 Sam. 17:21-23.
Those who made themselves willing instruments in the hand of Satan to be sending people to their early grave and subsequently hell, courtesy of diabolic wickedness, are harvesting equally their seed even while alive and hereafter.
A man, who was the architect of eliminating my father abruptly at the tender age of twenty two with the aim to wipe out the family records seeing that my father was an only son, had much of it. He harvested enough while on earth and his family more after his demise. To his shame, my father left behind six sons that many are married with children whereas his only surviving son that is well over fifty years is yet to marry. Is the family not almost on the wipe out?

Of course things like that are very much known already. Curses are very deadly and can result into anything bad not good. I agree with this.
