Title: Martins Scoops MLS Awards
Post by: Folami David on Sep 23, 2013, 01:51 AM
Seattle Sounders striker, Obafemi Martins was named player of MLS Week 29 and his goal against Real Salt Lake was picked as goal of the week.
.
The Nigeria striker's goal was picked ahead of Fabian Espindola's goal for Week 29's AT&T Goal of the Week.
.
Martins earned 30.43 percent of the week's vote for his finish in the Seattle Sounders' 2-0 triumph over Real Salt Lake, and that was enough to beat the 30.19 percent that Espindola received for his headed finish in the New York Red Bulls' 2-0 victory against Toronto FC.
.
Martins was also voted Week 29's MLS Player of the Week for his one-goal, one-assist performance against Real Salt Lake.
.
The former Inter Milan and Levante forward found the back of the net on a well-worked passing sequence he was heavily involved in during the third minute of the match, firing a one-timed shot before launching himself into his trademark backflip celebration.

Obafemi Martins is just a player that should stick to club football once and for all and forget about wearing a Super Eagles shirt!
