Fit-again Vincent Kompany has admitted he cannot wait to face Wayne Rooney in Sunday's "unpredictable" Manchester derby.

Kompany made his return to action in the 3-0 Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday, slotting seamlessly into the back four to immediately give Manuel Pellegrini's side a more solid look in defence.

The skipper is now set to continue there on Sunday in the local derby and will be charged with keeping in- form Rooney quiet.

Kompany says he is pleased the England man has rediscovered his goalscoring form as he relishes taking on players like Rooney at the top of the their game.

"It's brilliant he's doing so well again," said Kompany.
