Title: Klose Undergoes Surgery
Post by: Folami David on Sep 26, 2013, 04:20 PM
Miroslav Klose has undergone foot surgery and will miss what could be Germany's last two World Cup qualifiers next month, leaving national team coach Joachim Loew with a striker problem.
.
Klose's Italian club Lazio said Thursday that Klose underwent surgery in Munich the previous day on his injured right foot and will have to rest for at least two weeks.
.
The 130-times capped Klose recently equalled the German record 68 goals from Gerd Mueller. Germany need one point from their last two group games against Ireland on October 11 and in Sweden four days later to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
.
Loew will not only be without Klose then, but the other striker, Fiorentina's Mario Gomez, is sidelined with injury as well.
.
"I know about Klose's operation and will talk to him," Loew told the German football federation website.
.
"I don't know yet what his break will mean for the games against Ireland and Sweden. We will nominate the squad late next week, we have a little time until then."
