Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, is looking forward to a return to the team after being excluded from the national side since after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The Everton player told our correspondent in Lagos on Saturday that he was ready to accept coach Samson Siasia's invite.
Yakubu, who was on loan to Leicester City last season, said, "I'm ready to come back to the Eagles whenever the coach wants me. I know there are many good players in the team but I'll make myself available anytime my country needs me.
"I'm not disappointed I've not been invited. There'll be a time to come back. I still play for my club and I have my family that gives me strength so I'm still enjoying the game."
Aiyegbeni missed a scoring chance for Nigeria against South Korea at the World Cup and the Lagos fans took the opportunity of seeing him play in the Nwankwo Kanu's testimonial match to boo him.
He said, "It's great to be back playing before the Lagos fans. It's almost a decade since the last time I played in Lagos; it fun but I'm not bothered by the booing.
"The fans are happy when you play well, and they feel bad when you play poorly. I understand how they feel about me after the World Cup and I'm sorry about my performance."
"We have to forget the past and move on. The English fans once booed Frank Lampard and some other players but after that life goes on."
The former Julius Berger player, who spent last season on loan with Leicester City, said life in the English Championship is tougher than the Premier League, and would like to return to his parent club Everton.
"I can still play at the highest level in the Premiership. You can't compare Championship football with that of Premiership. The Championship is more physical; I still want to go back to the Premier League," he said.
"I still have a contract with Everton, and since my loan deal is over with Leicester City I'll be heading back to Everton."
