Title: Tambuwal, Dickson for Ojude Oba festival
Post by: Mirror on Oct 03, 2013, 07:31 AM
The House of Representatives Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, are expected to lead other eminent Nigerians to Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State for this year's Ojude Oba festival.

This year's festival, with the theme: "Actualising the Creation of Ijebu State," will hold on October 17, which is two days after the Eid-el Kabir.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Fasi Yusuf, disclosed this yesterday at a press conference to herald the festival held at the palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

Yusuf said the committee deliberately chose the theme to further create awareness as well as drum up additional support for the quest to have an Ijebu State.

While Tambuwal would be the special guest of honour, Dickson, who is said to have a blood relationship with the Ijebu people of Ogun State, would be the chief guest of honour at the event where the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, would be the host.

Yusuf disclosed that the festival would assemble the political bigwigs to enable them listen to their genuine agitation to have a new state created out of the present Ogun State.

Citing sections of the 1999 Constitution to back up the demand for a new state, he explained that the Ijebu people were doing that in consonance with the National Assembly's directives which ordered agitators of a new state to get themselves familiar with the dictates of the laws of the land.
