Job Title: Custodian Supervisor

The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking a permanent Custodian Supervisor. This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Oversees the day-to-day duties of all Custodians while performing routine inspection of all AUN facilities and maintenance of facilities; solves minor problems. Assists in assigning custodian work schedules and in co-coordinating special task with Unit Heads. The Custodian Supervisor provides custodial services, facility coordination and training services to the district and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Position Requirements:
• At least a National diploma in relevant field.
• At least three years of custodial experience with building maintenance in a reputable Institution.
• A year's experience supervising people.
• Strong knowledge of electrical maintenance is a plus.
• Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items bending, standing, climbing or walking.
• Team leadership skills.
• Ability to drive a tricycle.
• Effective English – verbal and written communication skills.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
• Interpersonal skills such as, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, organizing and innovation.
• Attend to emergencies when necessary.
• Ability to switch on and off Generators.
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
• Assist in the instruction and supervision of work orders.
• Support and enforce all policies of AUN facilities management procedure
• Proven ability to communicate and train employees.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to productively work independently and as an overall integral plant staff team member.
• Ability to work extended hours if and when required.
