The Osun State House of Assembly has defended Governor Rauf Aregbesola's delay in the constitution of his cabinet almost seven months after assuming office.
Speaker of the House, Mr. Najeem Salaam, said the governor's decision to select "the best team with solid pedigrees" was responsible for the delay in the constitution of the cabinet.
Salaam reacted to a statement issued by the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, which criticized the slow action of the Governor. He said, "the House would not be intimidated by the opposition to rush the governor into constituting the cabinet".
"What will be the benefit of rushing the governor into selecting commissioners who will not perform, knowing full well the enormity of work to do in the state?'' he asked.
