Former Super Eagles players Etim Esin and Sam Sodje joined millions of Nigerians to celebrate the 2-1 win of the Super Eagles in Sunday's first leg of the 2014 World Cup play-off between the Walya Ibex of Ethiopia and the Super Eagles.

Esin outlines the factors that ensured Stephen Keshi's men came out unscathed in the battle of Addis Ababa.

"First, I want to say congratulations to Nigerians on this victory. The zeal and determination of the players won the game for Nigeria.

"However it is one step at a time and I really commend the Eagles' patience. Now the players must have their minds focused on the return leg in Calabar on 16 Novemberbecause the Ethiopians showed that they are not a bad team after all. But I believe that the confidence gained by the Eagles in this game will stand them in good stead," Esin affirmed.

Speaking on the game, Sodje said that the Nigerian national team will have to ensure that they do not let their heads drop following the nervy game in Addis Ababa.
