Former England international and Manchester United forward Michael Owen has revealed that he intends to go out on a high when he eventually retires.

The 31-year-old striker believes he still has a lot to offer for Sir Alex Ferguson's Premier League champions, although he admits his best days are behind him.

These are his words "I love football and I love playing football, but I certainly won't be one of those players that drops down levels and all the rest of it".

"I would like to bow out when I'm in reasonably good shape and on top of my game," Owen told Sky Sports News.
