The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi has charged the 2012 Batch 'C' members of the Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the State to be self reliant and resourceful.

While addressing the 2012 Batch 'C' corps members during their passing out parade at the Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, the Governor urged them to adhere to the vision of the founding fathers of the NYSC Scheme and strive to give their best to the country.

The Governor demanded them to nurture and apply themselves to the practical lessons of self-employment which they were exposed to in the course of their service year. He noted the scarcity in white collar jobs and advised them to be creative and industrious, in order to assist the government fight unemployment in the country.

Chibuike Amaechi commended the corps members for their efforts and contributions to the socio-economic development of the State, noting that their achievement especially in the rural and disadvantaged communities would remain an evergreen inspiration to their successors.

He observed the loss of a total of five corps members of the 2013 Batch 'C' in the course of service with 22 on disciplinary actions and 23 offered awards of excellence and prayed God for the repose of the souls of those who died during the service year. He pointed out that Corp members are stakeholders in governance, indicating the need to sustain the vision of the scheme.
