The Ministry of Agriculture has described as laudable and a morale booster the recent awards conferred on it by the Head of Service in the recently concluded Civil Service Day Celebration.
The Director of Administration in the Ministry, Dr. Innocent Adie made the commendation while speaking to newsmen on the State of affairs in the Ministry.
Dr. Adie said that the award of excellence bestowed on the Ministry as the best performing MDA, the second best performing Director in the Service as well as best award in extension services, was a demonstration that the Services of the Ministry were being recognized and appreciated.
The Director pointed out that this gesture was bound to ginger the staff of the Ministry into re-doubling their efforts in Service delivering and commended the Head of Service for her various innovations which he noted had contributed greatly in giving the service a new face look.
Dr. Adie also praised the State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke for his tireless efforts in raising the standard of service delivery, which had placed Civil Servants in Cross River State above their peers in the Federation.
He stated further that the Governor's promise of brand new car as star prize in the next year Civil and Public Service Day Celebration, was bound to motivate the Ministry as well as its staff towards redoubling its effort in service delivery so as to maintain the lead and grab the star prize.
On assessment of staff, the Director advised his colleagues to exhibit the spirit of confidence, honesty and fairness, while assessing those under them and described the introduction of the key performance indicators (KPI) template as an innovation in assessing workers and the various MDAs.
Dr. Adie reminded all Civil and Public Servants of the need to wake up and take their duties more seriously as the present administration, he noted, had demonstrated the political will and power to give the service and its operators the needed recognition through the introduction of various welfare schemes and good working atmosphere.
