Title: Cross River State - Cobham Calls for Prayers for the Present Administration

The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham has called on churches in the State to pray for the success of the present administration to enable it deliver more democratic dividends and selfless services to the people.

The Deputy Governor spoke through the Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Pastor Eyo Okpo-Ene, in Calabar, at the weekend, when Officers of the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force, led by its founder and Director-General, Dr. Evaristus Udora, paid him a courtesy call in his Office.

Mr. Cobham urged them to carry out their spiritual work by praying for peace and the Government to be sensitive to the needs and yearnings of the people of the State, in its crave for good governance.

He applauded them for their unique way of serving God, as soldiers of Christ and advised them to endeavour to partner with other churches in the course of their service delivery, so as to make their impact felt towards a better society.

Earlier, the Founder and Director-General of the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force, Dr. Evaristus Udora stated that they were in the State for a 3-day National Convention of the Force tagged "Paradise Convention Calabar 2013", with the theme: "Evangelism with Our Talent."

He explained that they were soldiers of Christ and not the arms-carrying soldiers, but aimed at carrying out spiritual work, train spiritual leaders and prepare them for the services of the Lord, as well as, selfless service to humanity, in accordance with the works and teachings of Jesus Christ, who demonstrated selflessness while on earth.

According to him, the missions of the Force were to use their God-given talents, to serve God, through serving the poor in their neighbourhood, campaign against abortion, encourage good governance, listen to and resolve various complaints of victimization, run medical services in some seminaries, among others.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of a dossier about the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force, to the Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Pastor Okpo-Ene, by the Founder of the Force, Dr. Evaristus Udora.
