Post by: OgunState on Oct 23, 2013, 07:31 AM
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has re-affirmed the commitment of his administration to the welfare, promotion and creation of a conducive environment for civil servants in the State to enhance their productivity.     Governor Amosun gave this hint today in his office while receiving in audience, members of the National Executive Committee of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN). Amosun said his administration is a strong believer in the truism that workers should not suffer but enjoy maximally from the fruits of their labour, positing that “governors will come and go, but the people that will stir the ship of the State must be well catered for”.     “We believe that workers should enjoy the benefits of their labour, our up-to-date promotion of workers and prompt payment of pensions as at when due clearly indicates that we do not want the labour of those who have worked to be in vain” the Governor declared.     Governor Amosun stated that taking adequate care of the workforce is one sure way of combating and reducing cases of corruption endemic in the Nigerian system to the barest minimum, pointing out that any worker who is sure that something worthwhile awaits him at the end of his service is most likely to shun acts of corruption.     The State’s helmsman disclosed that his administration had in the last two years been undertaken steps to enhance productivity as it has been exposing civil servants to both local and international trainings, affirming that it would continue to overhaul their working tools.     Speaking on the on-going road projects across the State, Governor Amosun noted that “we are working towards ensuring that whatever you see in the capital must be seen elsewhere” and thanked the Association for holding its National Executive Committee meeting in Abeokuta, the state capital.     Earlier, the National President, Association of Senior Civil Servants, Bobboi Kaigama had commended the governor ”for turning night time to day” in the Gateway State adding that “your profile as a performing governor has risen to a very high pedestal”.
