The Chairman of KWSIEC, Uthman Ajidagba disclosed this in Ilorin on recently during a press briefing held at the headquarters of the Commission.
Uthman Ajidagba informed the press that at the close of the nomination of chairmanship and councillorship candidates by political parties only three of them – Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) submitted forms to confirm their intention to contest in the remaining 15 Local Government Councils on Saturday 26th October, 2013.
"It is important to note that all other political parties including the All Progressive Party (APC) did not indicate interest to contest for any position as they did not obtain any nomination form," he explained.
Ajidagba also assured that the 2013 Local Government Council election would hold as planned on the 26th of October, 2013. Adding, necessary arrangements have been concluded by the Commission for a peaceful conduct of the election. He warned that all political campaigns should end at twelve o'clock mid-night on 25th October, 2013 and enjoined the electorate to abide by the rules, shun thuggery and hooliganism; saying the law enforcement agencies have been readied for any uprisings during the election.
