Title: Gana heads Lar’s burial committee

Former Minister of Information and President, Middle Belt Forum, Prof. Jerry Gana, has been announced as the chair of the National Funeral Planning Committee for former Plateau State Governor, Chief Solomon Daushep Lar. Director of Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Jos, Mr. James Mannok, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

He said: "The Plateau State Governor, Jonah David Jang, has approved the constitution of National Funeral Planning Committee for the late civilian governor of Plateau State and elder statesman, His Excellency, Dr. Solomon Daushep Lar (CON). "The committee which is to be chaired by Prof. Jerry Gana, has Barrister I. D. Gyang as secretary.

"Membership is drawn from Plateau and Nassarawa states, the family of Chief Lar, the Presidency, Office of the Senate President, Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, as well as associates from across the country.

"The committee has been mandated to immediately commence preparations for a befitting funeral for one of the nation's foremost statesmen and pillar of democracy." Lar died in a United States hospital on October 9 but his body is yet to be flown back to the country.
