National Mirror runs the rule on the players that made the 2012/13 Glo Premier League Team of the Season.
GOAL
Femi Thomas – Enyimba
There's no doubting the fact that the Enyimba goalie was simply the best in the just concluded season. He helped keep the defence the tightest in the defence leaking a commendable 12 goals all through the season. Showed great composure, organised the defence well and maintained solid communication among the back line. It's not surprisingly the former youth international was rewarded with a Super Eagles B invite.
DEFENCE
Bright Esieme – Enyimba
The young dreadlocked right back caught the eye of everyone including Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi with his delightful runs on the right flank. Impressive going forward and tough defending, the Aba-born was simply a huge revelation and appears to be relevant for many years to come.
Mutiu Adegoke – 3SC
This junior veteran has just seen off another impressive season for himself. Never been found wanting at his preffered left back role, but ended the season on a low, going down with the Oluyole Warriors. His assured defending, set piece delivery and goals were just noteworthy.
Chinedu Udoji – Enyimba
The Kaduna-born defender stood out among the central defenders in the just concluded season. Strong, skilful, hard and technically aware, Udoji takes the biscuit in the central defence role. Initiated attacks and still found time to keep the defence line as tight as ever, conceding just 12 goals.
Okey Odita – Kwara United
Just too bad this former Rangers and Enyimba captain went down with Kwara United but his defensive capabilities were not left unnoticed. He marshalled the defence with ease and provided cover for the keeper.
MIDFIELD
Bright Sokari Bobby – Enyimba
He only saw off his first season as a GLO Premier League player and played as if he had been playing for ages. He's only 17 but proved he could hold his own and his contribution last season was just a clear testimony. He was the People's Elephant's assist specialist and still found his way to goal a number of times.
Rabiu Ali – Kano Pillars
One of the best midfielders in the GLO Premier League and proved it again this past season. Emerged Pillars' top marksman and only missed the league's goaleador award by three goals and yet he fired in all the goals from midfield. His free kicks were legendary and his assists also fired the Kanobased club to retain the league title.
Ugonna Uzochukwu – Rangers
He was ever present in the Flying Antelopes' midfield, fighting for the ball, distributing passes and breaking opponents' rhythm. It was simply an excellent season for midfielder, whose younger brother; Izunna is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the top flight in Denmark.
Rasheed Olabiyi – Enyimba
The engine room in the Enyimba team, visionary, perfect team player and above all good motivator. Despite his languid stature, the Pepsi Academy product fought all the battles in the midfield and still came out good. Carried the team along, no doubt, the past season was a great one for Olabiyi.
ATTACK
Victor Namo – Nasarawa United
He had previously under achieved at Kano Pillars but shocked even himself by winning the top scorer's award, finishing with 18 goals. His goals, though most came from the spot, helped the Solid M i n – ers stay afloat.
Oghenekaro Etebo – Warri Wolves
The youngster gave the top contenders to the league's goaledor's award a tough chase but settled for second best, finishing on 16 goals. He also scored two hat tricks and won Player of the Week awards thrice. The Warri- born striker capped his great season with Super Eagles Teams A and B invite. A player for the future.
