Fans of Lobi Stars of Makurdi have expressed displeasure over the club's relegation survival, insisting that they had wished the team to go under at the end of the just-concluded season.
Lobi waited until the last game of the 2012-13 season played in Katsina- Ala last Sunday against Kano Pillars before it escaped relegation.
But, instead of Lobi fans being happy with the club's survival, they are in anguish, ruing the style of the management led by ex-international, Dominic Iorfa, who they prefer sacked.
A fan, Terngu Ajembe, who spoke to National Mirror in Makurdi, said Sunday was a bad day for players and fans of Lobi Stars because, most of them had prayed fervently for the club's relegation so that the government would be forced to step in and address the plight of the players and technical crew members who have always been treated like outcasts by their boss.
He said, "We are badly disappointed that Lobi survived relegation this season. A lot of things happening in this club would have been addressed had the club been relegated, but now that they survive, the lies of the club vice chairman would be covered up for another season."
Meanwhile, at the match, Iorfa lambasted some of the sports journalists who were in Katsina-Ala to cover the match, saying they came to report his club's relegation.
"I won't talk to any of you, because you came here to cover my relegation. Some of you have not covered my match before and you are here today to cover my down fall," he said.
