You did, Amaechi's men tell CP

FROM CHRIS  ANUCHA, PORT HARCOURTRivers State Police Command  has denied   withdrawing   security details  attached  to  some top government officials in the state. But the  Chief  of Staff, Government House, Chief Tony Okocha,  insisted  that policemen attached  to him, and  the  Secretary  to  the State Government(SSG)George Feyii, had been withdrawn.Police Spokesman in the state, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), told newsmen in Port Harcourt  that the  Commissioner of Police, Mr.  Mbu  Joseph Mbu, did not  order for the withdrawal  of  security details attached to the  top government officials.

"It is not true. We (Police) did not withdraw their security details. I cannot say more than this,'' Muhammad told journalists, who took him up on the issue.

And he made good  his vow not  say more on the matter, as all entreaties to make the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO)  to speak further failed.

In a quick reaction, Tony Okocha said he was shocked   at  the PPRO's denial. According to him, security details under the Special Protection Unit attached to his official residence were withdrawn on the order of the Commissioner of Police.

He said:  "Security details under the Special Protection Unit attached to my house and that of the Secretary to the State Government have been withdrawn. As I speak, no reason was given for the action and we are now left with only one police orderly each. Nobody has contacted the state government to give reasons for the action and we were not given prior notice.''
