The Bureau of Employment Generation (OGEGEP) in Ogun State is prepared to partner with relevant stakeholders in the bid to address the problem of youth and graduate unemployment in the State. Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Engr. Mrs. Cecilia Bukola Olajide gave this indication when she led other officials on a courtesy visit to the office of the National Directorate of Employment at the Federal Secretariat, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta. Engr. Olajide said efforts to tackle unemployment require multi-sectoral approach, pointing out that any responsive government concerned about the wellbeing of the citizenry should do all that is humanly possible to keep it at bay. “The Bureau of Employment Generation is ready to knock on all doors possible and collaborate with a view to addressing the problem of unemployment. We need to work as a team, this is why we are here to understand what you do here and see how we can key in and get things done” She noted. The Permanent Secretary also revealed that the Bureau had been repositioned and had been moving to explore further ways of tackling unemployment adding that it had been collaborating with the private sector in this regard. Responding, the State Director of NDE, Engr. Olayemi Oyenekan acknowledged the fresh wind blowing in OGEGEP saying the two agencies are stakeholders who needed to put heads and resources together to combat unemployment in the State . Oyenekan underscored the need to sign workable and sustainable Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cement relationship between the two and that the possibility of organizing a joint trade fair where products of their respective trainee would be displayed should be explored.
