The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, yesterday, affirmed Mr Gyang Pwajok of the People Democratic Party, PDP, as the Senator to represent Plateau North Senatorial District.

Justice Oyebisi Omoleye who delivered the judgment, held that the action that was brought against the election of the appellant by the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) had become an academic exercise.

Besides, the appellate court maintained that the CPC which commenced the proceeding at the Federal High Court had since ceased to exist, saying the party is no longer a recognized legal entity in Nigeria.

According to the court, "It is in now in the public domain that the CPC that is a respondent in this case has been subsumed by a larger party, All Progressive Change (APC).
