The excitement and suspense of the 2013 Nigeria Bankers Games (NBG) is headed for an upswing with semi-final matches holding today and having two record seeking sides, Cup holders, Skye Bank and United Bank for Africa (UBA) in hot chase for one of the final tickets, while Standard Chartered Bank and First Bank still looking good to cause upsets.
Sterling Bank which lost out in the quarter finals of the football event, leads on the overall medals table with 4 gold and one silver and a bronze.
They are followed by Fidelity Bank with three gold and silver and six bronze. Completing the top three on the medals table is First Bank with 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.
Defending champions and fourtime winners, Skye Bank will have Standard Chartered to contend with as they seek to lift a fifth record trophy and record consecutive finals triumph.
With the combined fire power of Mustapha Abdulrasheed and Ismaila Sani who both have three goals each to their credit, Skye Bank are in good stead to counter the direct offensive approach of Standard Chartered.
