If President Goodluck Jonathan fulfills his promise, his name will be written in a golden book, probably, in the Guinness book of world records, as the first Nigerian democratic President, who fulfilled his promise.
Furthermore, Nigerians will never forget him, for bringing good luck to the country.
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the problem of power failure will soon be a thing of the past.
President Goodluck Jonathan, who gave this assurance on Saturday at the 27th convocation of the University of Port Harcourt, said the problem of electricity supply would be solved in the shortest possible time.
The president, who was represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, explained that apart from ensuring that the citizens enjoyed regular power supply, his administration was making efforts towards improving the standard of education.
He stated that the challenges facing the education sector were well appreciated and added that government would remove all ambiguities that had stalled the progress of the education sector over the years.
President Jonathan said, "When I spoke with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt on what the needs of the university were, he told me that they had problem of power supply.
"I immediately told him to make another request because the problem of power supply in the country would be solved in the shortest possible time.
"Also, the challenges of the educational sector are now well appreciated and we are removing all the ambiguities that have stalled the progress of the sector over the years."
He expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon join the league of developed countries in the world.
To achieve this, he said, emphasis would be given to both the power and educational sectors.
The Punch
The dream of every Nigerians is to enjoy stable and efficient power supply. This has actually been the bane of development in Nigeria. If the present administration achieve this feat, in no time will Nigeria be among the committee of emerging economy.
If the Jonathan's administration achieve this feat, every aspect of the Nigerian economy will fall in place.
Referring to the statement posted by InfoStrides, If there is "stable and efficient power supply, in no time will Nigeria be among the committee of emerging economy".
Epileptic power supply will be no sooner than 2014. This has just be confirmed by the new minister in power and steel ministry, Professor Barth Nnaji. Read more here: Stable Power Supply Not Likely Till 2014 - Nnaji - The InfoStride (http://www.theinfostride.com/forum/index.php?topic=19410.0)
