Title: FG trains 22,503 Civil Servants for effective service delivery

About twenty-two thousand, five hundred and three officers in both the Federal and State Civil Service have been trained by the Federal Government for effective service delivery under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)' Public Sector Capacity Building Programme.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji disclosed this when he declared open the 2013 Specialized Mandatory Training for officers on salary Grade Levels 08 to 16 in the Federal Civil Service held at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Abuja.

Represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of Service said, that the objective of the training programme is "To build and strengthen the ability of officers to effectively and efficiently deliver service and contribute significantly to the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Nigeria Development Agenda."

He said further that a total of 15,782 Federal Officers and 6,721 State level Officers have so far been trained since the inception of the programme, stressing that human capital development will continue to receive the needed impetus by the Federal Government.  He called for the collaborative efforts of Donor Agencies and Development Partners in ensuring that the required targets are met.
