The delegation of Pilgrims from Ogun State have been commended for comporting a way of comporting themselves as good ambassadors during the recently concluded 2013 Hajj exercise. Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun gave this commendation after receiving the 2013 Hajj report from the Amir Ul Hajj, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Suraj Ishola Adekunbi at the governor’s office Abeokuta. Amosun said that the array of reports on the conduct of pilgrims from the state remain a reference point for others to emulate, noting that this was achievable owing to the standards set by the State Government which must always be held in high esteem at all times. “I want to thank you all for a job well-done to have been able to achieve a seamless 2013 Hajj exercise and the positive conduct of pilgrims from the state, which has continued to earn us accolades even from our brothers from the northern part of the country. I urge you to keep up this feat and ensure early preparation for next operations to surpass this year’s achievement”, he said. The Governor maintained that all achievements recorded by the present administration within the short period of time was as a result of continued support from the citizenry which he described as a propelling force to do more, calling for more prayers and support to achieve success in its quest of rebuilding the state. In his submission, Rt. Honourable Adekunbi said that being the Amir Ul Hajj averred him the opportunity to broaden his horizon religiously and got closer to Almighty Allah, appreciating opportunity to lead the delegation coupled with the second to none welfare packages evolved by the State Government while the exercise lasted. Also Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, noted that the 2013 Hajj exercise was an improvement on the previous exercises owning to the new traveling measures evolved with provision of improved accommodation and health facilities, adding that no casualty was recorded among the1,221 Ogun State pilgrims that observed 2013 Hajj as the State was ranked among the best by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
