Wife of Nigerian President, Patience Jonathan has expressed her gratitude to God for unalloyed faithfulness and grace in the burial ceremonies of her beloved mother, Late Charity Fyneface Oba (1946 – 2013) who was laid to rest in Ambemebiri of Okrika in Rivers State on November 1, 2013.
Patience Jonathan gave heartfelt thanks in the presence of a congregation on Sunday November 10, 2013, during the worship service held at the Aso Villa Chapel in the State House, Abuja.
After reading the Sunday lesson for the day, Patience Jonathan who shared her innermost feelings disclosed that in her position as the First Lady of the nation; a lot was demanded of her. She remarked that many individuals expect to know how successful the burial ceremony would be. She therefore offered special thanks to the Almighty God for huge success encountered with the burial ceremonies as well as to all Nigerians who attended the obsequies, offered prayers, words of encouragement and support to her and her extended family.
The President's wife was especially appreciative of the atmosphere of safety for commuters to and fro her mother's burial rites; saying the Island of Okrika hosted such a huge number of people that there was fear that it could sink in. She further noted that the Almighty fortified the Island with divine pillars.
She said that it is important to always do the will of God rather than that of man. She stressed that although man can disappoint, the Lord can never fail believers and all those who adhere to his instructions. Patience Jonathan indicated that Christians need to always put the Lord first in all endeavours and should constantly sing his praises for his faithfulness.
