About the Organization: Micro Investment Consultancy Services Ltd. (MICS) is a social enterprise consultancy firm specializing in consultancy and advisory services to various actors dedicated to eradicating poverty in Africa. They seek to link micro, medium and small enterprises (MSMEs), credit unions, co-operative groups, rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), women's groups, and MFIs with public and private funding sources. It also provides technical assistance and capacity building strategies for improved efficiency and greater outreach..
Background: FRAGG is newly established USD 50 million impact investment fund for the Sub Saharan African region. It focuses on profitable and social investment opportunities in impact areas such as microfinance, microinsurance, microhousing, and SMEs.
About the Job: MICS is recruiting an Investment Manager on behalf of FRAGG. S/he will be responsible for the successful generation, management, and solicitation of profitable investment projects that meet the social standards of the fund.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Identify and keep informed about new profitable business opportunities and investment products that meet the social standards of the fund;
• Maintain up-to-date information on local investment markets, development plans, industry trends, and competitor practices;
• Act as catalyst in mobilizing domestic and foreign resources for investment in the private sector through co-financing operations with other investors;
• Provide expertise in the origination, analysis, critical risk assessment, negotiation, underwriting, and closing of investment businesses that meet established objectives of the fund;
• Evaluate, assess, and recommend new social investment projects to the investment committee;
• Provide evaluation of project proposals to assess their feasibility for financial assistance. This involves the initial screening of project applications, carrying out of desk reviews, and evaluation of feasibility studies;
• Lead the management of the portfolio projects and execute transactions;
• Build relationships with new investors and clients and expand existing networks;
• Prepare and monitor performance reports, attribution, and prepare clients presentations;
• Oversee and supervise the work of investment analysts;
• Lead quarterly reviews of the project implementation and the stakeholder engagement to support improvement actions and provide management information;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• MBA or equivalent preferably an advanced degree in Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance;
• At least 7 years of experience in finance/investment management;
• General understanding of economies, financial markets, appraisal techniques, cash flow, and financial statement analysis;
• Strong financial, credit, and structuring skills;
• Knowledge of relevant industry sector trends;
• Knowledge of impact investments and regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa will be an advantage;
• Possess skills in business development, marketing, and negotiation;
• Possess interpersonal and client relationship skills;
• Genuine commitment to sustainable social impact investments and poverty alleviation;
• Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral in English and French;
• Readiness to work and live in a multicultural environment with respect for diversity.
