Lagos State Director of Sports, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, says training of coaches and sports administrators in Lagos State will help the state to establish its status as the 'Centre of Excellence'.
Tandoh, who was appointed to the post last month, says his office will work with the state's Ministry of Youths and Sports to take sports to the next level.
"The plan being directed by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wahid Oshodi is beginning to yield results and we can only build on them," the DOS said.
"There is also a need for increased participation between the private and public sector on funds expended on sports programs."
Tandoh, who was the Secretary General of the 18th National Sports Festival, disclosed that the state would not relent in its developmental programmes.
"We are keen on discovering athletes from the young ages and our focus is in the right direction," he submitted.
