Title: Ogun State - Ogun Inaugurates Committee on Fulani/Farmers Dispute

 The Ogun State Government today inaugurated a 7-man committee to find lasting solutions to the dispute between farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Ketu and other communities in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.     Inaugurating the committee headed by the Special adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Mr. Bayo Adeyemi, Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa enjoined it to come up with a workable Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would be agreeable by both parties.     Adeoluwa also disclosed that the members were expected to recommend people for the implementation and enforcement of the MOU.     He noted that past efforts of government at ensuring peace in the area had been yielding positive results regardless of the inability of the feuding groups to sign a Memorandum of Understanding last year and expressed optimism that the current efforts would yield desired result.     “I am happy that we are making progress, despite the fact that we were unable to sign the Memorandum of Understanding last year. Last year’s grazing season witnessed the least trouble and friction unlike in the past 15 years”, the SSG said.     Barrister Adeoluwa commended the groups, particularly the youths for their cooperation, assuring that Government would continue to be neutral and not take side with any party in the matter.     Also speaking, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun appealed to the farmers and the Fulani herdsmen to sheath their swords and give peace a chance saying that Government was sincerely committed to ensuring that they live in harmony.     Responding, Head of the Fulani Community in the State, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir noted dispute between Fulanis and farmers was not peculiar to the State, but it is only in Ogun State that government was taking meaningful steps to mediate .     Kabir expressed the readiness of his men to cooperate and appealed to the farmers to give peace chance in the area.     Speaking in the same vein, leader of Ketu youths, Comrade Olayode Williams assured that his people were ready to work with government towards finding a lasting solution to the feud.     Other members of the Committee are the Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, Alh. Tajudeen Amoo, representatives of the Fulanis, the farmers in the area, Ministries of Justice, Agriculture and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria.

All this disputes is not what we need right now. People are craving for development, this won't let that to happen
