Title: INEC Advised To Relax 22-Hour Curfew

The civil society election situation Room on the Anambra state governorship poll holding Friday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to relax the 22-hour curfew to enable the electorate exercise their franchise without fear of molestation and intimidation.

Addressing reporters in Awka, the spokesman for the group, Mr Clement Nwankwo, executive director, policy, legal advocacy center said the curfew would not augur well with the nation's democracy especially as it affects the governorship election.

" We would want to point out that free movement and access to polling units by voters is an imperative for free and fair election and we call on INEC to relax this restriction".

The group reasoned that the restriction of movement could lead to voter apathy caused by fear of security enforcement of this order by INEC and advised that the commission needed to balance security concerns against the necessity for voter participation.

Fear or Intoimidation is history now when it comes to casting your vote in this country. INEC will ensure its all free and fair. We're all confident of a good election
