Despite his recent exclusion from the Nigeria team, in-form Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche says he remains a fan of the Stephen Keshi-led Super Eagles.
.
The 29-year-old has been in superb form for the Spaniards this season, even netting thrice times in the last four games, but remains shut out of the Eagles due to what Keshi described as his poor attitude in camp.
.
But the striker, who has been hugely popular with Nigerian fans until recently, is taking his fate philosophically.
.
"Sometimes it (not being in the team) cmrosses my mind but I remain a fan of the Super Eagles." Uche told BBC Sport this week.
.
"If I get another chance I'll honour the call.
.
"Since I'm not in the squad I can only wish the team well.
.
"I'm very happy with my form, fitness and encouraging performance at club level."
.
In spite of still harbouring hopes of playing for Nigeria again, the former Granada hitman however concedes that the time may have come for Keshi to build for the future.
.
"You can only look back and feel proud of your achievement with the national team and nothing more," he said.
.
"Right now it's a development squad (the Super Eagles), which means it's something for the future with guys that are going to be playing for Nigeria in years to come.
