Title: Abia State - Three hundred and forty Abia graduates to leave the shores of the country for training in agriculture.

(http://www.abiastate.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Abia-State-Liberation-Farms-2013-710x300.jpg)  The Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Kenneth Nwosu who dropped the cheering news in his office when he received the State Committee on inventory of government projects paid him a sensitization visit said the training will expose them to modern day agriculture that will in turn impact positively on the agricultural sector of the state and country in general.

Dr. Nwosu noted that Governor T.A. Orji approved the training having acknowledged the role of agriculture in the economic growth of any State pointing out that time has come to engage youths in agriculture to succeed the aging farmers at the rural areas.

The Agric Commissioner revealed that Governor T.A. Orji has done well in the areas of privatization of the Abia Rubber and Palm Plantations, disbursing of one million Naira agric loan to farmers, establishment of Abia Liberation Farms with skills acquisition centre, payment of counterpart fund for FADAMA, distribution of 450 improved Coca seedlings, among others adding that the State is partnering with the federal government to establish a 240 ton per day high quality cassava plant in Abiriba while search for a genuine investor to take over the Umunneochi cashew plantation is on.

He commended the inventory committee for its laudable mission and promised to give the needed assistance to enable them succeed.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Abia State committee on inventory of government projects and commissioner for information and strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo said they came to inform them of the mission of the committee to document a compendium of Governor T.A. Orji's achievements since the inception of his administration including the agric sector to serve as a reference material to the present and future generations adding that Abia is now blessed with a God sent leader who planned development in a sequential progression to benefit both Urban and rural dwellers.

Dr. Chikamnayo who described agriculture as important in the socio-economic and political development of any state said governor T.A. Orji has done a lot in the agric sector to eradicate poverty and improve the welfare of his people and solicited the cooperation of the Ministry to enable the inventory committee realize its mission of documenting and showcasing the indelible marks of the Golden epoch of Governor T.A. Orji in the State.

Agriculture has to be revived in this country so i support this wholeheartedly

That is why ABSU will remain one of the best universities we have in this country

The university still has to improve for them to see more students in the school premises.  That has to happen
