At least N350 million has so far been spent by the Katsina State government on science and technical education in the state. State Executive Secretary, Science and Technical Education Board, Umar Bala, stated this in an interview with journalists yesterday.
Bala said of the amount, N40 million was approved for the purchase of science equipment and same was distributed to the 16 science and technical schools across the state. He said that the state had, in addition, spent N20 million for the purchase of textbooks for schools under the board.
The executive secretary said over 90 percent of capital projects have been approved by the state government for the maintenance of science and technical education schools. Bala called on parents to enrol their children into schools under the board and that admission forms are at no cost to those interested in having same.
He, however, said that getting admission was not automatic as it would strictly be based on merit through examinations conducted by the board.
