Athletics coach, Isaac Ikhaobomeh, is confident of an impressive show at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, especially with the preparation being carried out by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Ikhaobomeh, who is currently in the national camp where about 70 athletes are being conditioned, says the athletes and coaches morale is high. "With the way we are going, I see us winning lots of medals at the Commonwealth Games," the trainer said.
"The feeding and environment is good even though things can always be improved upon," he added. The trainer noted that it had been long since athletes were camped for proper conditioning ahead of a new season: "The experience is very good for the athletes and will put them in a good condition for the season and Games.
"A number of athletes had complained about welfare at the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Training School camp. But the coach refuted the claims.
"Athletes must realise that camp is different from being at home and cannot be given the kind of luxurious treatment they desire," he defended. "Even some people would complain in a perfect setting, so we are not surprised."
