Information Officers in the state rose from an interactive session with a resolve to join in the on-going frantic efforts in showcasing the State as one where good governance is the hallmark.
The interactive session which was held recently in Calabar, between the Commissioner for Information, Chief Akin Ricketts and the Information Officers, provided a forum, for a clarion call on the Information Officer to Improve on their pattern of reportage. Which should be aimed at showcasing the activities of the present administration both at the rural and urban areas of the State.
Chief Ricketts emphasised the need for accurate information dissemination as well as Government activities being assessed by the people.
He, however, assured them that modalities would be worked out to facilitate their work and urged them to work in synergy with the heads of their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to achieve good results.
In her contribution, the Director of Information, Mrs. Mary Akpet enjoined the Information Officers to continue to take their jobs seriously, despite challenges which she noted, have always been there.
She said that the positions of the Information Officers anywhere would only be valued more, if they exhibited the "I can-do-it spirit" to achieve good results in spite of all odds.
Highpoints of the meeting were the sharing of experiences by the Information Officers, with the determination of the Ministry, to make all Information Officers relevant in the discharge of their duties in all spheres of Government.
This type of showcase is really what we have to do more for things to get better in this country.
