Cardiff City marksman Peter Osaze Odemwingie admits he is having the footballing time of his life in the Welsh capital right now.

The 32-year-old was signed by City manager Malky Mackay for £2.25m from West Brom on transfer deadline day back in the summer bringing to an end a frustrating time with the Baggies.

Despite originally proving a big hit in the Midlands,scoring 30 goals in little more than 60 appearances, he alienated himself from the club back in January after he famously drove to QPR expecting a move to the west Londoners to go through.

When that never materialised Odemwingie found himself out of the reckoning at The Hawthorns until Mackay rode to the rescue.

Odemwingie now looks to be his new manager's preferred choice up-front having started the Bluebirds last six Premier League games mainly at the expense of Fraizer Campbell.

He scored his first top-flight goal for City in the home defeat to Newcastle and also found the net in Cardiff's Capital One Cup exit at West Ham.

Odemwingie said he is just thrilled to put the frustrations of his time at West Brom behind him and is excited by the fresh challenge presented to him with City.

"I feel very happy right now. I have been through quite a lot this year and so far my time at Cardiff has felt like a new start," said Odemwingie.

"It has been great here. I scored my first goal against Newcastle a few weeks ago and it felt really good to hear the crowd calling my name again.

"I love challenges. I always have. Maybe that is why I have played in so many countries.
