A civil servant, Abdulmumini Ibrahim, 30, of Gurku village, Wednesday, prayed a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, to give him time to reconcile with his former wife, Aishatu Isah.
.
Ibrahim told the court that he needed more time to enable him settle with the wife as he still loved her.
.
The presiding judge, Mr Albert Maga, asked Isah if she heard what her ex-husband said, and she said yes.
.
She told the court that she was not interested in settling with him.
.
Maga then adjourned the case till December 9 for continuation of hearing should the out-of court settlement efforts fail.
.
It would be recalled that on November 22, Isah sued Ibrahim to court for criminal intimidation.
.
On that same date, Isah prayed the court to take judicial notice of the fact that she and Ibrahim were legally separated sometime in October by the same court.
.
She said: "Any time he sees me talking to a man, he will intimidate me. He told me that he does not agree with the divorce and therefore, I am still his wife to which I said no.
.
"I decided to bring the matter to court because my ex-husband has refused to allow me be."
.
The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge, saying: "I am not aware that we are separated by the court.
.
"When I came back from my sojourn, I asked her where I went wrong that made her go to court and divorced me, she said nothing.
This man should be a role model to other men in his kind of situation right now. Divorce is never the best option.
