Chemonics seeks a gender advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded agriculture project to improve productivity in markets systems in northern Nigeria.
Job Title: Gender Advisor
Location: Northern Nigeria
Project Description:
The project will target the most vulnerable populations and provide stimulus for improved economic opportunities for women, enhance access to private sector markets, and strengthen market linkages with neighboring countries.
Responsibilities include:
• Contribute to designing aspects of the project in its initial start-up phase
• Conduct gender analysis of sociocultural and economic gender constraints facing women and recommend gender initiatives to meet set targets for women's participation
• Design and implement program gender strategy, including management of women-focused special initiatives
• Conduct gender evaluations and, as necessary, recommend and implement corrections
Qualifications:
• Advanced university degree required, preferably in international development, social work, anthropology, sociology, or a related social science field
• Minimum five years of experience as a gender advisor in agriculture
• Experience with donor-funded agriculture projects highly desirable
• Experience working in diverse environments
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
• Fluency in English required; advanced knowledge of Hausa a plus
