The Football League will use goal decision system technology for the first time in a domestic cup competition in the Capital One Cup.
.
The system will be used at three of the League Cup ties scheduled for this week, and the semi-finals and final.
.
It is not available for Leicester against Manchester City as only Premier League stadiums have the technology.
.
The system, which has been tested with the Capital One Cup ball, is used in the Premier League and at Wembley.
.
Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson said: "The Football League is a long-term supporter of the use of goal line technology even if its cost currently puts it beyond the reach of our own clubs.
.
"In many ways its use in cup football is even more important than in league football, as any decision about whether the ball has crossed the goal line can mean the difference between a club being knocked out or not and could even determine the eventual Wembley winners."
.
In April the Premier League voted to introduce the technology and it has been in use since the start of the season.
They can surely afford it so its about time they used it there. This is good news for the clubs that are still in the competition
This year's capital one cup promises to be fantastic as everyone is already tipping Man Utd and Man City to go through to the finals
