Title: Arsenal Drop Interest In Spanish Striker Michu
Post by: Folami David on Dec 25, 2013, 05:48 PM
Arsenal are no longer interested in acquiring the services of Swansea striker Michu, according to the Metro.
.
The Spanish international had a season to remember for Swansea last term, scoring 22 goals in all competitions and earning his first call up to the Spain squad.
.
It was also reported that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had shortlisted Michu as one of his main targets as he looked to reinforce his forward line in the summer.
.
Swansea told the Gunners to pay £25m for the 27- year-old, putting them off of a summer approach but Wenger maintained an interest ahead of the January transfer window.
.
But Michu has regressed back to normality this term, scoring just twice in 12 appearances in the Premier League so far.
.
And Michu received another huge blow after it was revealed that he would need surgery on a troublesome ankle that will keep him out for six weeks.
.
That has forced Wenger to look to alternative options, who is in need of a quick impact player to support Olivier Giroud.
.
It seems that Swansea boss Michael Laudrup is also ready to look for alternatives, following the news of Michu's injury.
.
Swans boss Michael Laudrup told reporters: "What has happened in the last couple of weeks has changed things.
.
"We will probably do something now in January and try to add something that we don't have in certain positions. The numbers are a bit down and that is risky for the last four months of the season."

Well if they can get Diego Costa i don't think they need a player like Michu. I agree with Wenger
