Job Title: Programme Assistant (ECOWAS Regional Programme)

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Established in 1951, International Organization For Migration (IOM)is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Migration Management Specialist, the Programme Assistant will assist in the implementation of the EU-funded project "Support to Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa". The Programme Assistant will provide general programmatic andadministrative support to the Project Support Unit.

Core functions / responsibilities:

1. Provide necessary information and assistance for the preparation and implementation of project activities;

2. Assist in timely reporting on project activities according to IOM and donor formats as required;

3. Assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of seminars, conferences, workshops, meetings and missions related to the project;

4. Draft meeting reports;

5. Ensure proper documentation and filing of project documents;

6. Assist in tracking of project expenditures in liaison with the National Finance and Admin Officer and in the preparation of monthly funding requests for the project activities;

7. Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project activities;

8. Support liaison with relevant governmental, non-governmental entities (NGOs), international organizations as well as other relevant stakeholders where necessary for the effective implementation of the project activities;

9. Support visibility and communication activities related to the project;

10. Undertake duty travel when necessary;

11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Desirable Competencies: Behavioural

Technical:

a) Strong planning, coordination and logistics skills related to implementation of project activities;

b) Good communication skills;

c) High level of computer literacy (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point);

d) Ability to independently carry out tasks;

e) Ability to multi-task and to prioritize required;

f) Ability to work effectively with government counterparts;

g) Good representational skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experiences:

a) Minimum of a Diploma qualification required;

b) four years of professional experience, preferably in the field of migration or related field;

c) Experience in supporting all aspects of project management;

d) Experience in working with multi-lateral or international organizations and/or in a multi-cultural environment desirable;

e) Knowledge of the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) and understanding of regional issues. Language Fluency in spoken and written English. Working knowledge of French an advantage.
